Ba'wis Mask handcarved from red cedar and detailed with paint and hair by Tsimshian artist Mike Epp. Bawis is a supernatural being associated with rivers and seashores. In ceremony he is depicted as a little green man, shy, eating ghost food and attempting to lure people to do likewise to their peril. Ba'wis is related to other "Wild Man of the Woods" characters from other Coastal Nations, like the Bakwas of the Kwakwaka'wakw, the Ga'git of the Haida, or the Pookoobs of the Nuu-chah-nulth.
