This small totem has been carved in the Tsimshian style to represent a figure known as the "Keeper of the Wisdom". The First Nations of the Coast didn't have a written language, so each family had a member whose task it was to remember their stories, legends, and, of course, wisdom. Unpainted and untreated, this totem has been meticulously knife-finished and detailed with white horse hair.
